This story
takes place in small town where there is a boy who lives alone as he has no family
or friends due to which his social skills are next to zero, named Billy. Real
story begins when he meets a girl who changed his life forever.
Billy has been all alone from the age of 8
when his parents died in car accident. After that he was with his grandparents for
next two years and in another car accident even they died too. He didn’t wanted to
be with any other relatives but due to his age court gave his custody to his
uncle. At his uncle’s house he started to cause trouble whenever he could,
after few months his uncle asked him what he wanted and he said he wanted to be
alone. So his uncle decide to let him go but uncle would visit him once a week and
leave him alone at his grandparents’ house.
At the age of
11 he started to live all by himself. He would get money from his uncle each
month for the expenses and uncle, himself stopped visiting him after few months as he couldn’t talk with his uncle at all.
By the time
he turn 16 it was like he was not from this world, he wouldn’t talk with
anyone, left house only when he needed to go to school or to go grocery
shopping. He didn’t had any friends as well, he just wouldn’t talk to anyone.
Expect some teachers everyone thought that he was deaf. Even if someone would
try to talk to him, he would just ignore them and not respond at all.
It was the
first day of high school when he saw her for the first time, ‘Amy’ cheerful, people
pleasing and pretty. He didn’t noticed her just because she was a new student but
she made a first impression no one had ever done. Amy offered to sit with
Billy, which was surprising to everyone because no one has ever sat with Billy.
It was a
first time when almost every one ever had Billy said NO to Amy request. But she
was of her own kind, she insisted to sit with him at any cost. Billy didn’t wanted
to get involved in any of that so he moved to make way for Amy. But he regretted
that decision very soon as Amy started to ask different types of question. He didn’t
responded to her at all, it was like she was talking to a wall but she kept questioning
him.
One whole
week went like that her irritating him every possible way but he wouldn’t respond
to any of those. At last she gave up, she decided to change her desk as she was
leaving she said “you know I just wanted to be friends with you but you are hopeless,
like this you will be alone all your life.” He didn’t lose a breath to what she
said, he remained there like statue.
Days went
by, everything was falling back to normal, Billy boycotting everyone and no one
bothering him. Billy was all alone again, but one day out of nowhere he wanted
to see what Amy was doing. He hadn’t done that before ‘wanting to know what
other were doing’, it was like he was missing her company.
He started searching
for Amy to look what she was doing, whenever he saw her, he always wondered how
someone can be smiling all the time. Maybe he wanted to know because he wanted
to be like more that. He thought about what she said to him ‘you will be alone
all your life’, he wandered if she was right. At that moment he realized that
he never planned his future.
After a
months of high school, everything seemed normal but Billy had started to look for Amy
but he couldn’t put why it was like that. He would look for her in a way that no
one could see him and actually wanted to talk with and wanted to be friends. She
was a first person in 8 years who had actually made afford to be with him, be
his friends. Maybe that moved his heart.
Months went
by Billy would just look at Amy but didn’t had any idea how to start a
conversation as he had not talked to anyone properly for almost 8 years. Then school
conducted a field trip for them, Billy could usually not go to this type of
things but teacher said it was compulsory so he had no choice.
On the day
of field trip, they were taken to a museum. Tour guild gave them the tour of
museum, well everyone followed almost everyone bored. Lunch break. There was a
park nearby, every one requested their teacher to have lunch in the park, after
few discussion teacher allowed them to go. Everyone but Billy went to park to have their
lunch, he knew he would be alone there anyways so why bother to go.
Billy was
finishing his lunch alone, when Amy came and sat next to him in the museum
bench. No one spoke for few moments then Amy broke ice by saying “what do you
want?” Billy had no idea what she was saying. Billy just shook his head avoiding
eye contact.
“I know you
are looking at me every now and then, what you are planning to kill me because I
sat with you at the start?” Amy said with sharp voice. Billy shook his head
again but this time faster than before.
“So then you
want to ask me anything?” Amy said in a bit of anger as he was not responding in
words. Billy nodded at first but immediately shook his head.
“Ask what
you want, I will try to answer?” Amy said this time in the claimer voice. He didn’t
say anything.
“I know you don’t
want other to see you talking. So, whatever it is ask me before they come” Amy
said with smile in her face. They sat there for 2 minutes in silence and Amy
stood up to leave. “How are you so happy all the time?” Billy said in loudest
voice he spoke in 8 years.
“What?” Amy
said and came back to where he was sitting, he didn’t say anything. Amy spoke
again “you see I have friends who is there to help me when I am in trouble. I can
share my idea with them, they make me laugh even if I am feeling down. And most
importantly I don’t live in past, I live in present to make my future. You have
to do the same.”
After few
moments Billy finally spoke “I want to be like that. Will you be my friend.” She
said yes and they smiled at each other. FYI, it was the first time
Amy saw Billy smiling.
Next few
months were hard for Billy as friend of someone but Amy hold on despite billy's walking
away from time to time with saying a word, getting afraid to talk with anyone
else, getting angry in small things. They started to walk to school together
however Billy still was not comfortable in talking at school yet as he had always remained
silent. Amy would talk to him in school but he would not speak at all.
Time fly by
after Amy and Billy started got comfortable with each other. First few months were tough but Billy
was finally became normal. Amy would teach him how to do things that he has
avoided all this year. Amy stick around even though her family and friends said
not to hang out him, he was never going to change. But that was not
correct, he was changing.
They started
being with each other whole day. Billy had finally started to come to the real
world, he was talking to people, he was not avoiding anyone and he was being
happy. Everyone was shocked to see Billy like that. As time passed by they grew
fonder of each other.
Then came
the end of the high school. Billy was totally different person now after one
and half years of being with Amy. Billy had totally opened up not only to Amy
but to others as well, he even has friends apart from Amy. Anyways, everyone
knew they were more than friends.
In the
graduation ceremony, something unimaginable happened. In front of whole school,
Billy purposed to Amy, that boy who wouldn’t talk to anyone had purposed a girl
in front of whole school. Every one cheered for them and Amy said YES.
Till this
day they as happily living their love.
