Bully Hurts

Bullying someone can really change them. Today we will take similar case of a boy named Jack, he was a very cheerful, friendly, innocent and helpful. He was always there to help his friends in need due to which it was hard to dislike him. Because of his those traits he was elected class representative alone with one another girl (Verona).

 

Everything was going great, Jack was very happy being class representative (CR) as he could take part in extra activities in helping his teacher and college. His fellow CR and he himself became really good friends in class and while they were doing their CR jobs. They would help each other whenever they had to.

 

Jack made few more friends from his own class and some from another class too as lady CR had her boyfriend (John). They were in different class as they didn’t wanted to be distracted from their study. Jack made good friend with her boyfriend, they would hung out a lot of time outside class.

 

Jack was having good time with his study, friends and CR jobs but the whole thing changed one day. There was a small program on college which Jack was arranging given that he was CR. It was end of program when everyone for program had already left, Jack was arranging chairs. When out of nowhere John and other boys came and tossed Jack into ground.

 

Jack didn’t understand what just happened with him. Jack lifted his head and looked around to find seven boys, John and his friends including some of Jack’s own classmates. Jack thought it was a mistake, he simply smiled and helped himself up. Then again John pushed him to ground, one thing was clear to Jack that it was not a mistake. Jack looked at John and for some reason John looked very angry.

 

Jack got up again with smile and asked what was happening. John said pushing Jack towards wall “how can you do this to me, I was your friend.” Jack had no idea what he was talking about. Later on John explained that Verona was having affair with another boy and that boy was Jack according to her. Verona had said that even though she didn’t wanted to talk to Jack, he would always follow her around inside the college and even outside. And when she said she didn’t wanted to be with him, Jack thread that he would kill himself and forcefully she had to be with him and talk to him. None of which was true.

 

Jack knew none of those were true, so he tried to explain that to John but he was so angry he didn’t wanted to hear anything. Even so Jack said that he had never seen her outside and he has no idea what was going on. He also suggested that there might have been some kind of misunderstanding and should call Verona to clarify things. When he was telling that one of boy from his own class said “there is no need I know everything, Jack always looked for a way to be close to Verona and would always touch her in weird way.” Which made John more furious and then he punched Jack in his face.

 

Jack fall down on ground with his mouth bleeding, no one helped him up. Jack again tried to explain that he had no idea what was going on but no one was ready to listen. It was true that Jack and Verona were friendly with each other in class but he had never did nothing inappropriate with her. Jack was still not quite sure what or why was that happening to him.

 

Taking support of wall Jack got up again and tried to speak, one of the boy knocked Jack down and everyone beat him till he was unconscious. After Jack got unconscious John said everyone to stop and leave before anyone sees them. They all ran away before some teacher found Jack and took him to hospital.

 

It was after three days when Jack got back his consciousness, during that time it was a hot topic in college as no one had any idea who did it. Teacher had asked everyone individually if anyone knew anything but there was no lead. Everyone was hoping Jack would get up and tell it himself who did that to him.

 

When Jack got up he was totally different person, one a cheerful person now seemed very reserved. After waking up he didn’t speak anything for couple of days, didn’t even tell who did that to him. His family and friends tried talking to him but he wouldn’t talk to anyone. Couple of days later when he finally started responding he would only say that either he was hungry or sleepy.

 

Weeks passed by but there was no progress in his condition, he didn’t talk to anyone, to which doctors said he was in depression. Even though his physical wounds were fully healed, doctors still suggested to keep him in hospital due to his depression.

 

During Jack’s time in hospital he always though what he did wrong, if being friendly was what got him. He was afraid to talk to anyone, he thought they would just beat him up without any mistake. He was too afraid to talk to friends and family as he didn’t know whom to trust therefore he didn’t talk to anyone.

 

Even after few months, when Jack’s condition didn’t improved doctors suggested that if person who did to him, talks to him once then his condition might change. This word spread in college asking that whoever did that to Jack, they can go and apologies to him as there will be no one else expect Jack, which might improve his condition.

 

Till this time John had realized what he had done wrong and asked his friends who were involved in incident to confess but they refused. He tried few times to confess by himself but he had cold feet. John told this incident to Verona the day it happen when he was angry. Even Verona didn’t say anything as it would put her in trouble.

 

It was Sunday evening, when Jack’s parents decided to take doctors suggestion and let culprit come and talk to Jack. They arranged special room in hospital for person to come and meet Jack where no one will see them. That spread in neighborhood and college, hoping that culprit would come and apologies to Jack so he could get better.

 

John heard that and thought that he would go and apologies as he couldn’t confess what he did. He went to go hospital and had cold feet again. But this time he gathered all the confident he had and went to Jack’s room. As soon as Jack saw John, he got scared. John told him, there was nothing to be scared of and got on his knee and started saying sorry.

It was first time after incident Jack said anything, he said “but what did I do wrong?”

“Nothing, I was idiot who this to you, please forgive ……” as John was asking forgiveness someone knocked on the door, John got scared and ran towards bathroom to hide.

 

This time it was Verona, she was holding flowers in her hands. She got in and put flowers on table. John take a look from bathroom to see who it was, when he saw Verona, he was really surprised. But when he saw it was her he decide to come out and apologize to Jack together. He stopped when he saw Jack gave him sign to stop.

“I am really sorry John did this to you.” Verona said with sad voice.

“But why did you tell him that you were having affair with me” Jack said in low pitch that John in bathroom barely heard.

“Okay I will tell you truth” Verona started asking “actually I was having affair with another boy and John found out about him, I knew John would do something reckless then I thought if I tell your name, not only he will believe it, he might even forgive you as you guys were good friends. I am so sorry he did this to you because of me.”

 

John was hearing everything and really shocked to hear that he actually hurt someone for no reason due to which that person had mental problem. He got out of there and went straight out of door. Seeing John leave, Verona got that he had heard everything and followed. After both of them left Jack lay down on his bed to take nap.

 

John, tears in his eye went directly to Jack’s parents to apologize to them and told them everything what happened with Jack. After that those who were involved in incident alone with John and Verona were thrown out from college.

Jack started talking again but he was never like before, they made him change city so that he would move on but he says till this day that incident hunts him.
